Here’s a picture of me writing on my head

Hello!

I’m a comedy writer, born, bred and based in South East London. I have credits on Newsjack (BBC Radio 4), Breaking The News (BBC TV Scotland) and The Skewer (BBC Radio 4). I was a top 10 BAFTA Rocliffe finalist in 2016 and wrote a longlisted Bruntwood Prize script in 2019. I’ve had work performed at The King’s Head, The Hen & Chickens, Southwark Playhouse, The Vaults, Theatre503, Canal Café Theatre, Matchstick Theatre and The Brockley Jack. I write comedy and drama. I particularly enjoy writing things that challenge stereotypes around gender and sexual identity, but in entertaining ways. I also often work in a Theatre of The Absurd style, but with a fresh, British twist. I am currently a Writer in Residence for Broken Silence Theatre and a Literary Manager for Matchstick Theatre Company.

As well as writing for stage, screen and radio, Mark Daniels Writer Ltd offers a range of advertising services including concepting, copywriting, proofreading, VO direction and transcreation. Find out more here. I also offer script feedback/development support.

A little summary of my work as a comedy writer. I've now stopped doing stand-up and am aiming to write for others, especially scripts for TV / sitcom.
